Who we are
Watenka S.A.S. is a Latin American boutique consultancy specializing in environmental and social management, sustainable finance and strategic advice for infrastructure and energy projects.
Our team brings over 12 years of experience in environmental and social due diligence under the IFC Performance Standards and the Equator Principles, together with deep knowledge of the Colombian and Latin American regulatory framework. We have worked on the development, construction and operation of projects, on the developer side and on the lender side.
We support companies, financial institutions and investment funds in managing their environmental and social risks and turning them into opportunities for sustainable value. Above all, we build bridges between lenders and projects: a common language that brings together environment, communities and risk management.
和転化 — Harmonious transformation
The name Watenka can be read from Japanese as wa (和, harmony) + ten (転, transformation) + ka (化, evolution), and captures our mission of turning environmental and social risks into opportunities for sustainable value.
The Andean bear (Tremarctos ornatus) is our symbol. It is South America's only bear, it lives in the Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia, and it stands for strength, resilience and adaptation: the same values that guide our work.
